Past Events
At the Coalition, events are in important part of our work. We know that ending violence against women and girls takes a collaborative effort, so we work to create a unique space where those who may not usually find themselves in the same spaces can work together, share their expertise and inspire one another to even greater things.
Our team work hard to perfectly curate these events to make them a unique learning and nourishing experience. Catch up on some of our past events below:
Re/Sisters Survivors Event
We had an amazing time celebrating the strength of survivors at our Re/Sisters event for International Women's Day 2026.
This was an invitation only event for survivors, nominated by our members. It was a wonderful half day empowering and supporting one another. Survivors took part in a range of relaxed and creative activities, including flower arranging, card making and even getting their nails done. We ate delicious food and finished the day off with a singing workshop. Those who participated told us they felt supported by the connections they made at the event and asked when there will be another.
Faith and Online Harms Against Women Webinar
Our #faithon4th event, during the 16 days of activism 2025, focused on “Faith and Online Harms Against Women”, examining the intersection between digital violence, gender, and faith. The discussion explored: What “online harms” mean — and how they can amount to forms of gender-based violence (GBV). How online spaces can replicate and amplify misogyny, racism, and religious discrimination. The particular experiences of women from faith backgrounds, whose religious or spiritual identities may make them more visible — and thus more vulnerable — to online abuse.
Re-Imagine Conference
The reimagine conference conference aimed to highlight often-overlooked voices and perspectives, shining a light on the women left behind in the VAWG movement. We explored how patriarchy, capitalism, and white supremacy have shaped and limited feminist strategies for tackling VAWG. We also asked what needs to change and be reimagined to create a more inclusive, transformative feminist practice that centres marginalised women.
At its heart, the conference invited participants to think beyond bureaucracy and structures that aren’t working. Instead, we encouraged a vision rooted in justice, care, and real systemic change – one that recognises the gaps in our current approach and seeks solutions for future challenges.

Connecting Communities Conference
“Without Community there is no liberation” - Audre Lorde
Often Faith and Community organisations are not recognised for the amazing work they do, these communities make a significant difference and keep contributing to enhance safety and improve lives of people in our society. Covid showed us the importance of community care, need of solidarity, practical support as well as need for moral support.
Our Connecting Communities Conference in September 2024 widened the understanding of how organisations work together and build links with various marginalised communities (communities that have never been connected) showing us how they are working towards connecting them amid the impending struggles
The conference was followed up by a networking event a few days later.

Women In Religion: Obstacles and Opportunities to Ending VAWG Webinar
We pulled back the curtains on the, often-overlooked, work of women in theology, religious and academic institutions. We were honoured to have four trailblazing women who are experts in the field of Sikhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam respectively to share their insights, expertise, and experience on being a woman scholar on the frontline of religion and patriarchy. They discussed some of the shared challenges they have, and continue to face in such institutions and with their peers, the transformative opportunities they have created and their visions of how a liberating theology can help end violence against women and girls .
Practical Perspectives on Decolonisation in the VAWG Sector Webinar
This webinar combined a series of presentations by practitioners from different disciplines and sectors who are experienced in responding to VAWG in multi-cultural and in migrant contexts, as well as practitioners in the wider Global South. Speakers Dr Romina Istratii, UKRI Future Leaders Fellow at SOAS University of London (UK) and Principal Investigator of Project dldl/ድልድል (Ethiopia, Eritrea, UK)
Ms Mebrak Ghebreweldi, Co-Director of Diversity Resource International(UK) and Founder of Waniney (Eritrea)
Ms Naana Otoo-Oyortey (MBE), Executive Director at FORWARD (UK)

Decolonisation Webinar II - Beginning a Journey of Decolonisation from a Funders Perspective
The first Decolonisation workshop focused mainly on understanding the academic perspective and how it's affecting 'by & for' organisations in the UK and globally. In this follow on webinar, we created a platform for understanding the perspective of the funder and learning ways of challenging the traditional funding system to build positive steps that will help 'by & for' organisations access funding.
Building Bridges Conference
Our Building Bridges Conference endeavoured to break narratives given repeatedly to us to serve patriarchs and patriarchy. Sadly, faith is weaponised and manipulated, we want faith to be used as a liberating wave in narratives and interpretations of theology. We were honoured to have some trailblazing activists share experiences of their activism and sheer resilience working within a diverse range of communities and continue to fight patriarchy, speak out against gender injustices, and create important spaces.
